Protein Optimization Process

The first stage of the protein optimization process is to create diversity of a candidate protein, e.g. some form of mutagenesis and/or recombination in order to create a library of protein variants. In the next stage, variants with the wanted properties (e.g. increased affinity) are selected. The protein optimization process can be repeated several times until the most suitable protein with desired optimized characteristics has been obtained.
